This gives you a good idea of what the apartments look like: each with its own deck with either one or two units per floor. You can also get a feel for the surrounding gardens because I had trouble getting a clear shot between the trees.

Each block of apartments has its own pool. This pool belongs to the first apartment block and wraps around both units with nice little waterfalls and a kids pool on the higher level.
The second pool is much the same as the first. These pools are much more about paddling around and relaxing than swimming laps, but, hey, you’re on vacation!
There is a small but adequate gym on property. It has a few cardio machines, free weights, and a simple cable machine. It’s enough to keep you presentable on the beach!
I wasted to include this shot to show you how the upper decks look. The penthouse units have a nice garden roof and lounge with small plunge pools. The shades surrounding all the roofs provide some nice shelter down below and add to the forest canopy feel on the grounds.

Kata is a great little area, blending a newly vibrant entertainment area with some of the nicer beaches (Karon and Kata) while, so far, avoiding the terrible over crowding and noise of Patong. It’s main downfall until recently has been the lack of decent accommodation—most of it tending toward the guesthouse end of things.
Kata Garden Apartments are certainly rented at a price more toward the budget range of things, but it’s a great little place with some nice pools that wrap around the buildings and some great landscaping that wraps the buildings in some of the nicest tropical surroundings that I have seen.
It’s situated in a great spot too, and it’s one of the few rental developments that you can walk to some reasonable attractions from. It’s just before Kata Noi, so if you exit and turn left, you’re right next to that beach. However, if you take a right and walk a little farther, you’ll be on the main Kata beach after passing a nice selection of restaurants and a few upscale bars.
